So far, Star Wars doesn't have a great track record on the iPhone.
The lightsaber app fad lasted about as long as the fart app, and using R2 D2 squawks as your message alert is so Before the Battle of Yavin.
We think this forthcoming app might change the franchise's daggy image, though nothing will ever make up for the '00s trilogy.
The augmented reality game Star Wars Arcade: Falcon Gunner by THQ Wireless is set within the original trilogy and sits you behind the guns of the 'fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy': the Millennium Falcon.
The game uses on-screen controls similar to modern iPhone shooters, and the camera and accelerometer translate your physical movements to the on-screen action.
We can only say two things when watching the video: 'Wow!' and 'Watch out for the ledge!'
There's been no word so far as to whether this will be available on other platforms.
